Kevin Murphy Color.Bug

So for a while now I've been thinking of dip dying my hair a candy floss/pastel pink but I wasn't sure how long I'd like it for or if I'd like it at all! So I started looking at various ways of temporarily colouring it
but thought due to my hair being quite light (especially my ends) I imagined that any semi-permanent colour would stain my hair, leaving me with peach coloured ends, which isnt terrible but wasn't really what I wanted. (As you can tell I'm not very daring!)

Any who, after going to the hairdressers I noticed they were selling hair chalk, I'd seen video tutorials on people using it but had heard that most of the chalk ends up on your hands, clothes and basically everything that's not your hair...
But I decided to do some research and found the Color.Bug! It had lots of reviews, tutorials and there was even a video of Kevin Murphy himself using his product, showing you exactly how it worked and the look that the bugs create.

I brought mine from LucuriousLook.co.uk, the posting was free and it arrived 2 days after ordering it.

Applying
It does give instructions on the packaging of the best way to apply it so I just followed the simple steps it gave.

Things you'll need:
A towl
Dark clothing is best
Thin latex gloves

Before applying the chalk I used some oil to moisturise my hair - this way it also creates texture for the chalk to stick to which means that the colour will last for longer, and that there will be less excess product which could then come out and stain clothes and fabrics the following day.

Holding the Color.Bug in your hand take strands of your hair and rub the product against it applying light pressure with your fingers. The harder you press your fingers on your hair against the Bug the deeper and more intense the colour will be.

To blend the colour into your hair more so it looks more faded and less like a block colour, run your fingers up and down in between your natural hair and the coloured areas. This way the colour spreads and will give a more ombré affect.

The end look
Perfect Pink ends! As you can see the product works incredibly well, my hair has gone from blonde to pink and it only took about 10-15 mins and takes around the same time to go back to your natural hair colour.
The ends were a little on the vibrant side but that was easily fixed with a damp towl.

Tips:
If you want more of a pastel pink I suggest using very little product, as you can always add more colour if it is too pale.
If you have added too much colour use a dark, dampened towl and gentle rub the coloured hair, this will slowly fade the colour.

The colour did fade slightly over the days but hardly at all, and after washing my hair the ends were still pink! I am however back to blonde now but I would definitely recommend these little Bugs for a quick and easy colour change.

*If you want to remove all the colour from your hair due to that you are unhappy with the colour, you don't think it suits you or you've simply had enough time with that colour and what your natural colour back, apply Head and Shoulders shampoo to the coloured areas, the colour should come right out! Washing up liquid works just a well but just make sure that you hydrate your hair afterwards, either with a mask or a  moisturising hair treatment, as both Head and Shoulders and washing up liquid can leave the hair feeling quite dry and brittle.*

I did use quite a lot of the product but my hair is quite thick and very long so if you have shorter or thinner hair you should get about 3-4 uses out of this product.

It cost £14.99 and was truely brilliant!

I hope you enjoyed my post and if you did like&follow me for more tips and info on beauty, hair care and much more!
