A Birthday in Brugge

Hey everyone, sorry I haven't been very active on the blog lately but I haven't seem to have had a minute! With Summer coming, college finishing and everything else in-between it's been crazy but something very exciting has happened in the passed week, it was my birthday!
It was such a lovely day and what made it even better was that my family took me to Brugge. It was an early start but who cares! We arrived in the early afternoon and the sun was shining, which it hadn't been before we left England so, of course, me and my whole family were not exactly prepared for a beautiful, hot summers day but luckily we managed.

We had lunch in the loveliest little restaurant over looking the beautiful fountain in 'T Zand Square. The food was amazing and me and my Mum had the best smoothy I think I've ever had.

After our meal we walked into the town. The streets were filled with shops, high street brands, individual shops (which are always my favourite as you can find so many one-off items which you can't get anywhere else) as well as the beautiful Lace and delicious Chocolate shops.

At the end of the cobble paved road was a huge square, Grote Markt. There were restaurants, horse and carriages as well as the stunning buildings.

After walking through the Market Square and resisting the urge to go into every Lace shop and Chocolaterie we came across the canals and decided to go on a tour. We jumped on the little boat and headed out to look at the various different sites of Brugge. And it was beautiful! The tour guide on our boat was particularly funny and kept making jokes about the bridges and to mind our heads when going under them haha!

The yummy chocolaterie

We learnt alot about the wonderful city and I found the swans particularly adorable. After going under a bridge we floated into this small square were there were swans everywhere, it was like something out of a movie and it is called the Lake of Love. Heres a little picture I snapped of a feathery family and their goslings, aren't they cute!

This was a truly magical place that I hope to visit again very soon and would highly recommend anyone to visit.

Have any of you been to Brugge? If so I'd love to know of more places to visit for my next trip there!
