This is definitely going to be another post full of photos, I just love taking snaps of everything. Barcelona is such a beautiful city. Sadly we only got to spend a day there and there is just far too much to see in just one day but we did our best and went to as many places as possible. I hope you enjoy the post!
We arrived in Barcelona at noon after taking the train from Blanes, the sun was shining and the streets were filled with people. We walked around the main square Plaça de Catalunya and then brought some tickets to take a bus tour around the city. It was so much fun, we got to see so many places and could get on and off the bus from anywhere in town all day. Our first stop was the Marina and from there we walked to the main street of Barcelona, Las Ramblas. There were restaurants, stalls and street performers, including; living statues and dancers.
We then walked near to La Boqueria Food Market where we ate in a very small Paella and Seafood restaurant - we didn't actually know that we were sat right next door to the food market but after our meal we headed there to check it out.
And what an amazing place it was, everywhere you looked there was something tasty and colourful whether it be sweet, savoury, healthy or unhealthy. There was everything you could imagine!
After our adventures in the market we headed back to Plaça de Catalunya and jumped on another bus to take us to the famous Sagrada Família. We travelled back to the marina and all along the seafront, enjoying the view we were completely unaware that we had actually got onto the wrong bus and that we were actually heading away from where we wanted to be. We got off at Centro Comercial Glòries, a huge shopping mall and walked around the area before heading back to where Sagrada Família was.
The Sagrada Família was simply stunning, I've never seen anything quite like it before. It is absolutely huge and every inch of it is covered in exquisite detail and what is even more spectacular is how long ago this building was built and just how old it is. Its so cool to be able to see such a historic place. I love thinking about all the things that might have happened here and how many people have walked through the doors. It's amazing. I love history! (Please excuse the photos though, it seemed very difficult to get as much of the church and its beautiful detail in as possible).
After a long day we headed back to the centre of town, the streets were still busy and lots was going on. This city is just so alive.
And of course me being the animal lover I am, I couldn't resist feeding a few of the pigeons in the square. I didn't know if it was allowed or not but Chris found a small stall selling feed for them so once he had found that there was no stopping us haha! They were so friendly as well, they ate out of our hands and one even flew up and sat on Chris' rucksack haha! So cute.

I did however get into trouble for taking this photo, I didn't even see the sign! But the details are amazing and I've never seen so many different types of chillies.
