The Sun, the Sea, the Food and the Lifestyle

Now I know its pretty obvious when going on holiday that the things you're going to love immediately is the hot weather, the gorgeous beaches, the food and just being able to put your feet up and relax but wow! Spain seemed even more beautiful than I remember and I really noticed just how amazing this place really is and how nice weather has such a positive affect on daily life.

The Beaches
lets talk about hitting the beach and soaking up the sun. The beaches are simply beautiful, Spain doesn't even seem that far away from home but boy does it feel like it is - I felt like I was somewhere really exotic with the sandy beaches and the blue, crystal clear sea. We went swimming in the sea almost every day (sometimes even twice) and I could have gone more. I feel so at peace when I'm swimming: diving in the waves and swimming alongside schools of fish. I don't even notice the cold which is really strange for me?!

The Lovely Weather and the Lifestyle
Spain is simply buzzing with life, no matter what time of day or how hot it is there were always people out and about - young and old, cycling, jogging, eating out, get togethers on the beach with BBQ's. People just seemed so much more healthy and active, and so social! And I know its summer, which normally means people all over the world are going to be more inclined to go out and have fun but I really noticed it in Spain, it was so nice to see so many people enjoying themselves.

I've never seen so many public fitness machines too and even pensioners where using them, its such a change from back home. As soon as the sun shines in England people go crazy but not in a fitness type of way but in a "lets do as much as we can or soak up as much sun as possible before it goes away" which usually results in either; full but fun-pact days or can result in avoiding going outside until midday because we're not used to such a climate shock or staying out so long that we have severe sunburn and heatstroke (trust me it happens!). And when its really hot there are news reports on the TV warning the young and old not to go outside for long periods of time and to drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration and heatstroke... And every year, I'm sure I hear "Heatwave to hit England", "hottest Summer in 30+ years" we rarely have a "standard summer" (that being the summer months being warm and gradually getting hotter until its Autumn) theres just not enough time to adjust to the changable weather!
But enough ranting. I just thought it was nice to see people so active and lively, I find I get so much more done in a day, even if its a leisurely day - I feel like I want to do more, go to more places, go outside, see more people etc. But as soon as its cold and rainy my energy levels just disappear (as does my social life)! Weather has such an affect on my motivation, like I'm sure it has on many. I also find that in hot weather I eat alot more healthy too and tend to eat less.

Theres also so many things to do and to see in Spain of which I will be posting alot more about (what we got up to and where we went) in posts to come! But everyday there is somewhere new and exciting to go. You can spend all day visiting one city, shopping, sightseeing, followed by a nice refreshing dip in the ocean and then spend your evenings in one of the beautiful beach bars, sipping cocktails under the stars.

The Food
We didn't eat out as much as we did last year, and this year I was slightly lacking with the photos of restaurants we went too (I don't think I took any?!) but we sure ate alot!
We ate alot of seafood, Paella and delicious homemade dishes and salads, of which are my favourite! And of course, a tonne of fruit - I find fresh fruit and veg in particular just tastes so different on holiday, its so much riper and juicier.
It's safe to say I was definitely spoilt with food on this holiday. But the thing I love is how the local shops are just packed full of amazing fruit, the perfect and most natural snack to have on a hot summers day.

Some of the delicious Homemade food my boyfriends mum made with watermelon for after (just looking at these photos makes me hungry!)

I hoped you enjoyed reading this post and don't forget to follow my blog to not miss out on my new posts to come!

Much love xox
