The Start of a Summer Winter

Hey everyone, I hope you are all having a wonderful week and aren't too cold now that winter is here. Every year I love the idea of getting all wrapped up for a crispy (yet bright) winter: have a fire going, go for walks in the snow like something out of a Christmas tale but unfortunately after a short time reality sets in and winter turns out to be just another miserable and rainy season but so far its been pretty amazing?! The suns been shining nearly everyday and theres been hardly any rain, its truly been a wonderful start to winter. And with that being said I'm so excited to share with you my new wardrobe pieces I recently received as they fit in perfectly with how this season has gone so far.

The first is a faux leather jacket with zip detail: you can never go wrong with a leather jacket, they're always in fashion and add style to any outfit - wear over a plain tee and jeans for an easy yet trendy every day look or wear over a cute dress for an edgier, more wintery outfit.
I really love wearing dresses, I just always find it difficult to find the perfect winter look that includes one? I mean surely to wear a dress in winter you just add tights, a nice coat or jacket, winter accessories and think warm thoughts right? But not every dress can make this look work. Particularly very bright/bold colours and paler colours like pink and cream which are my favourite colour choices (I don't know why, they just never look as nice with wooly tights).

As soon as its winter I just tend to keep to very muted tones and a lot of black and grey until summer roles around the corner again but with that in mind I decided to step out of my "winter outfit comfort zone" and get something a little different. Now like I said I'm not a big fan of bright colours in the winter and I've never been a pattern enthusiast but this dress I simply love! Its colourful, bright and easy to wear - I think what makes this dress the perfect winter item is that the colours are mostly red, oranges and darker colours (very autumnal) and the black background of the dress makes it really easy to pair with black tights or long socks, my favourite winter boots and doesn't take me too far out of my winter fashion comfort zone. Hurray!

The Dress is from Rosegal
The Faux Leather Jacket is from Zaful
& my Boots are from Schuh
