Like I said in my previous post, this was the first time I had ever been to Portugal and normally whenever My family and I travel we don't like to stay in one place: we like to explore the neighbouring towns, beaches (if its a beach holiday) and eat in various different restaurants to experience all the local food and the various different dishes available therefore taking full advantage of our little holiday. Although this holiday was slightly different due to it being my step-brothers wedding (so we had various dinners and parties and venues to go to) and the fact that my passport did a bizarre and very unfortunately timed disappearing act causing us to miss a couple of days of the holiday we did not have as much time to venture out and see the sights. But when arriving at the second hotel we stayed at which was where the wedding would be held their we're some very fun and interesting things to see and places to go so what did we do? We went exploring.
We didn't have to go far before getting some what lost in the Villa Termal hotel grounds, it was such an amazing place. It was set up in the hills, away from the towns and the hotel was made up of many beautiful buildings all white and with orange roofs which in the middle of a very green and wooded area looked stunning. There were also 2 pools located right in the centre which the rooms looked out over as well as a mineral water spa but more details of the hotel will be in my next post.
Whilst on our scenic walk we came across the "fountain of love" and opposite some very large trees that you could walk through the middle of which were completely covered in the hundreds of couples names and initials who had walked through the area before. It was such a magical place and so quiet and peaceful.
We continued are walk and took a little break near the road on the large rocky terrain, which was strangely photogenic. We then walked around the side of the hotel, this wasn't exactly where we wanted to be walking but we couldn't find a walk way to get back onto the grounds haha! But we did find a pretty little local restaurant and a lot of colourful flowers and fruit plants on our rather long walk back.
I hope you enjoyed this post and don't forget to follow my blog for regular updates
