For quite some time I've had problems with my skin - now I know you're probably all thinking that my skin looks pretty clear here but this was taken on a very good in not such great lighting. But the thing about my skin is that it scars, very easily. The tiniest little pimple that I get will leave a mark and I have some very bad scaring on the sides of my face because of this.
I've tried a mixture of various different prescribed treatments, from creams to antibiotics and nothing seems to work for long. After being on a course of antibiotics I had no spots and it was amazing but not long after I had finished they began to come back and scaring continued.
I'd heard about Isotretinoin but because it is quite a strong acne treatment I had to be referred by my doctor to a dermatologist. My appointment finally came and my mum and I set off to Harley Street, my skin was examined and after a long time of spots and scars I have finally found something that is working. I haven't been taking the tablets for long but I can already see an improvement, its wonderful! I already feel alot happier and more confident, and I'm not wearing as much makeup (hopefully soon I won't have to bother with any, apart from abit of bronzer and lipstick of course) but I really cannot wait to see what my skin will look like in a few weeks with the improvements I've already seen in a few days, its so exciting!
The course is for 6 months but after that time I should have no spots at all, and hopefully they will not return. Isotretinoin works by affecting the sebaceous glands in the skin by making them smaller, this then decreases the amount of oil they produce and stops the acne from occurring. The only thing with this is that it can make the skin quite dry and sensitive so I've been using lots of coconut oil to stop my skin from drying out, other side affects are also dry lips and eyes but luckily I've only really had dry lips which is nothing a little lip balm can't fix!
I will be writing another post in a few weeks with my progress as well as before and after pictures so if you want to check out how I'm getting on then stay tuned.
Have a great day everyone and speak soon!
